Devin Desktop combines an editor and coding agents. Rebranding establishes neither lower quality nor superiority over other IDEs. Test a bounded change on a separate branch: diffs, tests, dependencies and usability determine fit. Local execution, cloud execution and connected agents need distinct permissions.
Costs and access
The USD page lists Pro at 20 and Max at 200 dollars monthly. Teams start at 80 dollars base plus 40 per full developer seat. Paid usage has daily and weekly renewing allowances; model and task affect consumption. Extra usage may cost more. Temporary model promotions are not permanently unlimited plans.
Rights and data
Cognition documents training opt-out for paid plans, administered by the team administrator on Teams. Enterprise has separate commitments. Model-provider Zero Data Retention after opt-out does not mean Cognition stores nothing. Check actual desktop/cloud access, third parties, repository permissions and retention.
